Our customers demand reliable communications 24 / 7 because business does not stop after 5PM during weekdays.  Raycom offers several maintenance programs to fit your situation so that you can get the performance that you need and your business demands.  Our analog and digital networks are maintained whenever they have issues and when system performance demands, we work nights or weekends to be certain that we do not cause major interruptions to service during the heavy usage period.

MRA Radio System Maintenance and Repair

Preventative maintenance is the key to reliability.  Raycom performs maintenance service on our systems so that our customer experiences the fewest outages possible.  We have a simple philosophy:

“If it happened once, it can happen again and since we do not want it to happen again, we will do what it takes to keep the problem from happening again if it is within our control.”

MRA dba Raycom is known for its quality and dedication to reliability.  To insure that our network is as reliable as possible, we go to great lengths to insure the reliability of our network.  To illustrate this philosophy, we have gone back to all of our sites in our digital radio network and done the following:

  • We have installed new and more powerful routers at each digital site to increase the reliability and capability of the network sites. The new routers are powered by 12VDC so it is powered by our backup battery system
  • We have increased the capacity of the batteries at most of our sites and verified the battery system operation.
  • We have installed smart battery chargers at each site to increase the reliability and longevity of the backup power system. MRA Network Diagnostics Monitoring system
  • We have built an SNMP monitoring system so that we can see any of our network devices that is not responding or see any network device that is indicating a problem.  The items with a problem appear in red and sound us an alert.  This allows us to know about issue and take prompt action to provide our customers with the fastest response time possible.          Realtime Radio Equipment Monitor
  • We have installed new power distribution panels that allow us to remotely read the voltage and current of each major component of the site equipment and remotely cycle power to each of these components. This allows us increased ability to troubleshoot the network and recover from problems in the least amount of time possible.
  • We have the ability to review system usage to determine if the system loading is excessive or if it is in a normal range. By looking at the real time screen, we can see if there is a problem with customer access to a site and whether all the channels are functioning properly.
  • We have installed new amplifiers that allow us to remotely read the output power, input power and voltage on the amplifiers so that we can troubleshoot problems from our office.

Each of these items above was a significant investment in reliable operations for the benefit of our customers.  Our digital network is rock solid, but nothing built by man is foolproof.  Our extensive experience in systems engineering has allowed us to build in the redundancy and ease of troubleshooting so that we can find and resolve many problems with the network before our customers notice that they are having an issue.

Subscriber Radio Equipment Repair & Maintenance

Our maintenance and repair service is available within our service area which includes the greater Los Angeles area, San Diego, Palm Springs, Ventura, Santa Barbara and more.  As we get further away from our office, the cost of the service increases and unless there is a sufficient size fleet of radios, it does not make economic sense for us to service the equipment at a customer’s location except on a scheduled basis where we attend to more than one client in the area on a given day.  Many of our clients ship their radios to us for repair and we ship the equipment back after service.  This works well if there is not a problem with the radio installation in the vehicle.

Many of our clients pay for repair service at a time and material rate.  Others prefer to fix their maintenance costs and reduce their downtime by subscribing to a preventative maintenance program.  At Raycom, we recommend that you have a maintenance program which provides the multiple benefits described below.

You can have preventative maintenance in your fleet so that you do not often experience equipment failures and have your system perform the function for which it was intended.  The benefit of preventative maintenance is well known and implementing preventative maintenance will reduce your overall maintenance costs.  Raycom has three different repair & maintenance plans for your equipment to give you peace of mind that your radio system will continue to operate at the peak of efficiency while keeping your equipment in tip top condition so that it can operate with the minimum downtime possible.  Each plan is designed with affordability in mind.

Each of our customers use their radio communications according to their own needs, wants and desires.  No two of our customers have exactly the same philosophy about how to use the radios, how to maintain the radios and to what level of service they need to maintain their radios.  Therefore, we have designed three different plans to allow you to select the level of service that best suits your individual needs.

Fleet Service Level 1 Standard

  • Travel time to and from your facility for mobile / base repairs
  • Labor to service & repair your equipment
  • Parts used to service & repair your equipment
  • Annual PM of your radio and installation
  • Customer is responsible to ship portable equipment to the office for repair. Return shipping is included
  • Customer is responsible for physically broken, missing, stolen equipment such as belt clips, antennas and microphones.
  • Customer is responsible for damage due to misuse and abuse such as reverse polarity power applied to the radio, spilling liquids into the radio, equipment packed with dirt.
  • Service provided Mon-Fri 8AM-5PM except holidays. Base stations can optionally have 24 / 7 service for an additional fee

Fleet Service Level II Plus

NX-3200 & 3300 Portable Radio
  • Travel time to and from your facility for mobile / base repairs
  • Labor to service & repair your equipment
  • Parts used to service & repair your equipment
  • Annual PM of your radio and installation
  • Customer is responsible to ship portable equipment to the office for repair. Return shipping is included
  • Broken antennas are included, missing antennas are not included
  • Broken or missing belt clips are included
  • Free battery analysis for portable radio batteries
  • Free digital UHF loaner radio on the Diga-Talk Network for radios that cannot be repaired in less than 2 weeks
  • Service provided Mon-Fri 8AM-5PM except holidays. Base stations can optionally have 24 / 7 service for an additional fee

Fleet Service Level III Professional

NX-5000 Two Way portable Radios
  • Travel time to and from your facility for mobile / base repairs
  • Labor to service &repair your equipment
  • Parts used to service & repair your equipment
  • Annual PM of your radio and installation
  • Portable radios will be picked up by UPS with a call tag or by our personnel. Return shipping is provided by UPS or our personnel.
  • Broken or missing antennas are included
  • Broken or missing microphones are included
  • Broken or missing belt clips are included
  • Free battery analysis for portable radio batteries
  • Free battery replacement for batteries that do not perform at 70% or greater
  • Free digital UHF loaner radio on the Diga-Talk Network or MRA analog LTR
  • Stolen equipment not included
  • Service provided Mon-Fri 8AM-5PM except holidays. Base stations and key personnel can optionally have 24 / 7 service for an additional fee
