The Kenwood series of NX-1200 and NX-1300 portable radio products represent Kenwood’s latest and most affordable offering in the competitive digital radio market. These advanced radios are designed to provide reliable, efficient, and versatile communication solutions for a broad array of users and industries. As entry-level digital radios, the NX-1200 and NX-1300 models maintain high-quality performance while keeping costs accessible for organizations seeking to upgrade their communication infrastructure without exceeding budget constraints. One of the key features of these radios is the inclusion of built-in QT (Quiet Tone) and DQT (Digital Quiet Tone) in analog mode. This technology enables users to filter out transmissions and listen exclusively to their own group, even when sharing a channel with other companies or organizations. By programming a specific tone or code, interference and cross-talk are drastically reduced, ensuring that communication remains clear, confidential, and focused, which is essential in environments where multiple groups may be operating radios on the same frequencies. The NX-1200 and NX-1300 radios are incredibly versatile, supporting a range of analog and digital operating modes. In analog mode, they provide both simplex (direct radio-to-radio) and repeater functionality, while in digital mode, they support NXDN simplex, NXDN repeater, NXDN IP site connect, DMR simplex, and DMR repeater operations. This flexibility allows the radios to adapt to different communication infrastructures, suit a variety of operational needs, and facilitate smooth transitions from analog to digital systems as organizations modernize over time. These radios are ideal for use in diverse environments such as golf courses, hotels, movie theaters, furniture stores, bowling alleys, gun ranges, go-kart tracks, wholesale warehouse operations, schools, and construction sites. Whether coordinating staff, managing security, or handling emergencies, the NX-1200 and NX-1300 deliver dependable performance, clear audio, and robust signal coverage, all of which are critical in crowded or noisy work environments. Furthermore, it is important to note that the Kenwood NX-1200 and NX-1300 radios operate on licensed frequencies. Legal operation of these radios in the United States requires users to obtain the appropriate Federal Communications Commission (FCC) license. Compliance with this regulation not only ensures that users avoid fines and penalties but also helps prevent interference with other licensed communications operations in the area. By following these guidelines, organizations can confidently integrate the NX-1200 and NX-1300 radios into their daily operations, fully leveraging their modern capabilities to enhance communication, safety, and productivity.

The NX-1200 & NX-1300 radios operate 2 digital modes which include NXDN and DMR. Both of the digital modes can be programmed into the radio at a given time along with analog FM. This provides for versatile operation of the radio and an easy migration path for a user to start purchasing digital radios while continuing to operate analog until the majority of the fleet radios are compatible with digital operation. At that point, the balance of the radios can be decommissioned and additional radios can be purchased to be fully operational with digital NXDN or DMR.
